There are several reasons why embryo transfer is becoming the reproductive method of choice for champion show horses.

High rate of success. EquiTransfer enjoys an 80% success rate. The success rate varies by facility; ours is one of the highest in the industry.

Your mare doesn’t need to take time off. It only takes a matter of minutes for the transfer of the embryo. Your mare can continue showing with no side effects.

Decreased risk of breeding injuries. The safety and health of your mare is protected, as she does not carry the foal or give birth.

Multiple foals are possible. Mares can produce multiple foals in one breeding season.

Produce foals from problem mares. Embryo transfer enjoys success with subfertile or older mares that cannot carry a foal to term. Young fillies that can produce viable embryos but cannot yet carry them due to showing also may be used as donors.

Note: Embryo transfer is becoming increasingly accepted, but some breeds still do not support this method of reproduction. Please confirm that the association for your breed recognizes foals produced through embryo transfer.
